THIRTY!


I think I've thought more about this birthday than any other of recent years. I know it's just a number and there are much more important days that dictate the seasons of our lives, but it seems like thirty marks "real" adulthood. Which really I welcome these days. The responsibilities of this current seem far less burdensome than they're made out to be.
What I really have to focus on is grasping how wide and deep the love of Christ is for me and those around me, and how I am meant to reflect that uniquely. I am a slow-learner with these types of lessons, but the Lord is patient with me as I experience his grace and love. I feel like I get glimpses of the freedom that resides within this love and I am seeing more of what keeps me from this freedom.

The actual celebration of my first 30 years was so joyous. First after I spent a week at a conference in Miami with our new staff & interns, my sister surprised me with a visit from Seattle! Something I definitely didn't expect or think was possible! Then they went for the double surprise- seester and R planned a surprise party with some of my favorite people. It was sweet and special.
These friends are so fun and now us girls work together and so do our guys!
These people are all an answer to prayer- couples in our small group that have become dear friends here on the Westside of Atlanta!

My sister who has spent countless birthdays attempting to conceal secret surprises which I tended to guess before their time. My two friends on the right have spent my last FOUR birthdays with me- my how time flies- so thankful for them!

So thankful for where the Lord has us right now and the community he's give me to figure out some of this stuff.

I was always told that seeing a whale shark in the water with you will leave you awe struck and speechless. If you know me in real life, then you know that there are very few times that I am speechless, much to hubs disappointment (especially when he's trying to sleep).  We made great time on our road trip and arrived in Oslob by around 9:30. As soon as you reach the small town, you're bombarded with signs leading to businesses that will take you out to see the whale sharks. I admit that it was a huge tourist trap but sometimes you just have to suck it up, put on your 'I love Cebu' T-shirt and fanny pack and join the other tourists in order to see one of the most amazing things I have ever laid my eyes on. Happy Chuseok everyone! For those of you outside of Korea, Chuseok is the Korean Thanksgiving. It's when everyone goes to their grandparents house, makes songpyeon (look it up, it's delicious. It's rice cakes, but some have honey in the middle and they are to die for!), and some dress up in their traditional hanboks. But for us foreigners...it means a five day long weekend! Dear Friends,  I loved your idea to take roommate pics in hanboks! The pics turned out hilarious! And the fact that you could find some for the both of you to wear is pretty impressive. Now if only I could find a guy's one for the hubs to wear.     Dear hubs, the mustache is coming back I see. This happens every year around this time and I always feel the same way. I start with hating it, threatening to shave it in your sleep (I just might this year) but by the end, I can't help but laugh every time I see you. "Masterchef " Finalist Tracy Nailor's Haute Dishes

You may know Tracy Nailor as a finalist from Fox TV’s “Masterchef” with Gordon Ramsay. Nailor, a Pediatrician and Atlanta resident is not only a great cook, but she’s so much fun! Last night, my good friend Monique and I were invited by the Concentrics Restaurants group to dinner at the posh, Midtown haute spot Room at Twelve for a sample of Nailor’s creative dishes. We started off with crab cakes before moving onto the smothered chicken over rice. You can say it’s home-style comfort food that makes you want hug your plate. During dinner, Nailor gave a cooking demo on how to make her Caramelized Banana Napoleon. It was pretty tasty, particularly if you like a modern twist on banana pudding. She’s full of terrific recipes that make you remember your southern roots... so when Monique and I show up for Thanksgiving dinner, she shouldn’t be surprised!
